Phenominally successful businessman and founder of the largest and experienced mobile network operators in Africa- Econet Wireless, Strive Masiyiwa, will be launching a new unique Pay TV service.

The new initiative dubbed “Kwese TV” is aimed at offering exclusive sports and enetrtainment programing to African markets and will be run under the philosophy ‘Value for Money, premium and exclusive content’.

Announcing the news to the Econet family and fans on social media, Masiyiwa said they are aimed at bringing exclusive TV programing to consumers in Africa at a price that is value for money. “Our new business will be built around Econet’s core capabilities of satellite communications, fibre optic networks, and mobile services and this means a lot to Africa.”

“Our satellite communications business, Liquid Sat, has already built a platform which allows us to deliver what is known as Direct TV to the home (DTH), in all the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa.” said Masiyiwa.

Meanwhile their fibre optic company, Liquid Fibre is the largest builder of terrestrial fibre in Africa as well as Econet are some of the assets they are to deploy in a unique way in this masterpiece project.

“Having infrastructure is one thing, but Kwesé TV’s success will depend on our ability both to acquire and also to develop new, high-quality and unique programming at an affordable price.”

“You may know of other companies in this market, most which either provide content that’s far too expensive, or… content that’s just so bad it’s not worth paying to see it, even if it’s cheaper.

We know you understand what the problem is… And I believe my team has developed an exciting product which will change that dynamic!” he said.

Kwese TV will resemble the ‘mobile generation’, that is it is made to be a multi screen simply implying that one can watch TV with a traditional TV, a smartphone, a table or a computer and it’s the first of its kind in Africa.

Masiyiwa also reviewed that the sports website is now in place and anyone can visit to watch as they are moving towards their final launch which is to be announced.
