Baby Girl Dumped In A Grocery Bag In South Africa.

A baby girl was reportedly dumped at a grocery shop in Tongaat CBD in South Africa.

Daily Sun reported that it appeared as if someone had forgotten a grocery bag at the shopping centre in the Tongaat CBD.

When a kind woman picked it up and took it to the shop assistant, they found a two-day-old baby girl in the bag.

Prem Balram, spokesman for Reaction Unit SA, said paramedics were called and they treated the baby on the scene.

“The umbilical cord was still attached to the baby. She was then taken to Osindisweni Hospital for further treatment,” said Balram. He said they discovered that an 18-year-old woman had run away from a local clinic with a baby girl in the early hours of Monday morning.

“The nurses said she had just given birth two days before. She had also provided the clinic with false contact details.”

KZN police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident.

“A case of child abandonment was opened at Tongaat Police Station and cops were investigating,” said Zwane.
